SELF-DRIVE RENTAL GUIDE

Self-Drive Car Rental in Islamabad: Requirements & Tips

A self-drive car lets you set your own schedule, whether you are visiting family, attending meetings or staying in Islamabad for a few weeks. The easiest way to arrange one is to sort out the requirements before collection, then give the handover your full attention. Here is what to prepare, what to ask and how to return the car with a clear record.

The short answer: Self-drive requires the applicable documents and a vehicle-value security cheque. Full agreed rent is paid at handover before keys. There is no mileage limit; tell the team your planned travel areas when booking.

Start with your dates, your driver and your journey

Before choosing a model, decide who will drive, when you need the car and where you plan to take it. A short visit within Islamabad can have different practical needs from a family airport arrival or a longer stay in Rawalpindi. Include passengers and large bags when describing the trip; the number of seats alone will not tell you whether your luggage fits.

Send these requirements through the self-drive booking form, which emails our team. We check availability and explain the documents and security arrangements for your customer category. An enquiry starts the conversation; wait for the vehicle, eligibility and collection arrangements to be confirmed before treating it as a reservation.

Which documents do you need?

Have your original documents ready and ask about anything you are unsure of before travelling to collect the car. The requirements below come from the Self-Drive policy. The checks must be completed before handover, and additional documentation may be requested where reasonably required.

Pakistani local customers

  • Original valid CNIC.
  • Current driving licence in the customer’s own name.
  • Security cheque equivalent to the rented vehicle’s value.
  • Guarantor who is a business owner or government employee in BPS-16 or above.

Confirm the accepted guarantor arrangements with the team before collection.

Overseas Pakistanis & foreign visitors

  • Valid passport.
  • Applicable active visa or visa/stamp permitting the stay in Pakistan.
  • Valid driving licence for self-drive.
  • Required vehicle-value security cheque before handover.

Explain your circumstances so the team can confirm the stay documents and checks relevant to you.

The local-guarantor rule is stated for Pakistani local customers; do not assume the same document list applies to every visitor. Our overseas and foreign customer guide covers preparation in more detail. Keep identity-document images and bank details out of the general booking form.

Rental payment and the security cheque: two different things

Pay the full agreed rental amount when receiving the vehicle, after document checks and paperwork, before the keys are handed over. This covers the initial agreed rental period, including long-term self-drive bookings. Confirm the amount and keep a payment acknowledgement. Checking your documents does not mean you must pay the full rent before collection.

The security cheque is separate from that payment and must be equivalent to the vehicle’s value. It is not a cash deposit or an extra instalment of rent. Ask how it will be acknowledged and how documents and security will be released after the rental. The signed agreement governs security arrangements and liabilities.

Keep the payment record and security acknowledgement separate.

Security chequeA separate vehicle-value security requirementConfirm acceptance before collection; required for handover

For the questions to ask before handing over security, read our car rental security cheque guide.

Agree the rental times and the full cost

Write down the collection time, return time and return location. The published policy says a daily rental generally covers 10–12 hours, so do not plan around an assumed 24-hour day. For a week or month, agree the exact dates and how an extension would work. Compare the published rental rates for the same car and service, rather than multiplying a daily figure yourself.

Normal self-drive bookings leave fuel, tolls, parking, traffic fines, e-challans and other applicable charges with the customer. If you need delivery, ask for that charge as part of the quotation. Read the late-return terms before agreeing the total, particularly when your flight, meeting or onward journey could affect the return time.

Choose a car that fits the trip

Start with the models actually listed for self-drive rental. Some vehicles in the full fleet are offered only with a driver. Share your transmission preference, passengers, luggage and rental length so the team can help check a suitable option. For an unfamiliar car, ask about its controls during collection rather than trying to work them out in traffic.

Self-drive customers are welcome to travel outside the city. Tell the team your intended areas at booking so the car and travel plan can be confirmed as suitable. Explain mountain roads, remote stops or a changed itinerary in advance. Vehicle availability, customer approval and suitability for a particular journey are separate checks.

Fuel and mileage: what to record

There is no mileage limit on self-drive rentals under the published policy. You still need to disclose the areas you plan to visit and keep to the agreed rental period. Record the starting odometer with the handover notes so the collection and return records are complete.

The normal fuel arrangement is full-to-full: receive the vehicle with a full tank and return it with a full tank. The policy makes an exception for out-of-city drop-offs where the vehicle is not returned to the office. Confirm the arrangement for your booking and record the starting fuel level with the representative.

Take a few minutes for a proper handover

Walk around the car with the representative before leaving. Point out marks you notice and have them recorded, even if they look minor. Clear photographs and a shared written record are easier to refer to than memories after several days of use.

  1. Check the car and paperwork

Match the model, transmission, approved driver, rental dates and return location to your confirmation.

  2. Record visible condition

Photograph the sides, front and rear, then close-ups of existing scratches, dents, glass marks or relevant interior damage. Ask for written acknowledgement.

  3. Check readings and equipment

Record fuel and mileage. Check lights, indicators, air conditioning, seat belts, visible tyre condition and the spare-wheel/tools arrangement where provided.

  4. Know what to do next

Check the supplied vehicle papers, keys and agreed contact details. Keep your agreement and payment record available during the rental.

Use our interactive collection and return checklist for a more detailed walk-through. A customer check is not a mechanical inspection: if the car appears unsafe or shows a serious warning, do not drive it until the company has assessed the issue.

If plans change or something goes wrong

Ask for an extension before your agreed rental ends. Confirm revised dates, availability, charges and payment timing in writing. A weekly or monthly price on the website does not automatically renew your booking. If you expect to be late, contact the team promptly; the policy treats daily late returns and weekly or monthly extra days differently.

Report accidents, breakdowns, damage, theft or a significant incident immediately and cooperate with Huzaifa Enterprises and the relevant authorities. In an accident or breakdown, prioritise personal safety and appropriate emergency assistance. Do not keep driving an unsafe vehicle.

Under the rental agreement, the self-drive customer is responsible for the vehicle and resulting damage. Applicable repair costs and agreed rental charges while the vehicle is unavailable or in the workshop can also be the customer’s responsibility. Read those clauses before handover rather than assuming the security cheque limits liability or that insurance removes it.

Return the car and close the rental clearly

  1. Confirm the place and time

Check the agreed return arrangements, including any approved extension. Remove belongings from the boot, glovebox, pockets and under seats.

  2. Check the car together

Record final fuel and mileage, compare condition with the collection notes and photographs, and return the keys, supplied documents and equipment.

  3. Review settlement and acknowledgement

Ask for any outstanding fuel, damage, late-return or traffic charges to be explained and documented. Keep written acknowledgement of vehicle return with your other records.

Original documents and security instruments are returned after safe vehicle return and settlement of outstanding charges or liabilities, subject to the agreement. Confirm the release process with the team; there is no fixed release deadline stated here.

Self-drive questions, answered

Can I rent a car without a driver in Islamabad?

Yes, you can enquire about the vehicles listed for self-drive. The team checks customer eligibility, documents, security arrangements and vehicle availability before confirming collection.

When do I pay the rent?

Pay the full agreed amount for the initial rental period at vehicle handover, after document checks and paperwork, before receiving the keys. Extensions and renewal payment timing are agreed separately in writing.

Is the security cheque included in the rent?

No. The vehicle-value security cheque is a separate requirement. Confirm its acknowledgement and the document/security release process under the rental agreement.

Is there a mileage limit?

The Self-Drive policy states there is no mileage limit. Tell the team your planned travel areas so the vehicle and journey can be confirmed as suitable.

Does a daily rental mean 24 hours?

The published policy generally describes 10–12 hours for a daily rental. Agree the exact collection and return times in your quotation.

Can I take the car outside Islamabad?

Yes. Disclose your intended areas at booking, including any remote or mountain-road travel, so the team can confirm the vehicle and plan as suitable.

How much fuel should I return with?

The normal arrangement is full-to-full. The exception is an out-of-city drop-off where the car is not returned to the office; confirm the arrangement for your booking.

What if I need to cancel or return late?

Read the Self-Drive cancellation and late-return terms on the Policies page before accepting the booking. Contact the team promptly about a change and obtain approval for an extension rather than keeping the car beyond the agreed time.

Where should I send my booking details?

Use the website booking form, which emails the team. Include your dates, pickup area, preferred car and intended travel areas. WhatsApp is available for general contact, not for submitting booking-form details.
